Open days The Blue Idol building is open to visitors each Friday March - November inclusive, between 10am and 4pm without appointment. These days are marked as 'SITE OPEN' on the calendar. On these open days visitors will be welcomed by volunteer Quakers who will happily discuss the history of the Blue Idol and Quakerism and answer any questions you may have.
To arrange access at a time convenient to you on days when 'SITE OPEN' is not shown on the calendar, please contact us. Ideally, our volunteer hosts would appreciate a week's notice for such visits.
Meeting for Worship All are very welcome at Meeting for Worship on any Sunday, where you can experience Quaker worship first hand, then enjoy tea or coffee, inspect the building and hear of its history. Every second and fourth Sunday of the month there is a childrens Meeting. The children have activities with two allocated adults in the barn for 45 minutes and then will join Meeting for Worship for the last 15 minutes, the amount of time may be adjusted according to the age of the children.
Donations Due to the costs of restoration have left the Meeting with significant debt, we do ask you to consider making a donation. We suggest £3 to £5 per person, but if you feel able we would be grateful for more, however please do not let this prevent you from visiting.
Venue The premises may be hired for meetings and away days. There is a charge for morning, afternoon and evening sessions. Please see the venue page for information and contact us for details.
Privacy Please note that the left hand side of the building (as you look from the road) is privately occupied. We ask you not to intrude on the privacy of the occupants. The Meeting room is at the right-hand end.
Accessibility We have a dedicated disabled parking space closest to the path. There is a path down to the Meeting Room door which is concreted, please take care of the slope. There is a small wooden threshold at the door, wheelchairs can go over this. We now have an accessible toilet in the kitchen toilet block, completed in January 2018. We do not currently have a hearing loop, however this is a current project (November 2017). If you have any questions about accessibility please let us know.
